Floor Mosaic in the Chapel of Grace, St. Mary’s, Kevelaer

The 25 m² mosaic floor was commissioned in 1895 from the firm Antonio Gobbo, based on a design by the artist Friedrich Stummel. The use of the chapel as a pilgrimage site led from the outset to significant wear of the mosaic and the loss of entire pictorial sections. These were partially reconstructed as part of the restoration. The work was carried out in collaboration with the restorers Kartäuserhof, Cologne.
